A NEW LOOK AT RADIATION PROTECTION

Radiology - nuclear medicine - biomedical research

Sources of X-ray emissions:

Radiation is said to be ionizing if it has enough energy to tear an electron from an atom. This is the case of X-rays emitted by diagnostic devices. The ionization caused by this radiation passes through the living matter “in rain”, causing chemical modifications of the cellular molecules. The impact on a given organ is quantified in Sieverts (Sv) or equivalent dose.
